Türk Maarif College

Located in the heart of Nicosia, capital city of Cyprus, Turk Maarif College has made its own path in secondary education since 1964.

TMK, is the oldest therefore the most experienced English medium public school which is affiliated with IGCSE/A LEVEL in our country. Graduated students have the opportunity to study in various universities in Turkey, America and Europe, but mainly in the UK. Along with the success for YKS (an exam taken to study in Turkey) and IGCSEs / A-Levels, our school has gained a reputation for raising unique students by encouraging responsibility, a desire for excellence and love of learning foreign languages such as German and French.

Our school is the home for students aged between 11-18. It guides its students on their path to wisdom, knowledge and a prosperous future. We are educated with the aim of academic achievement as well as social and cultural development. The school provides us an environment where we are able to fulfill our individual potential.

Vision

Turk Maarif College aims to equip their students not only with strong foundations for lifelong learning and effective academic program but also;

to create an interactive and fun environment to develop students’ spoken and written English,

Entry Requirements

Pupils wishing to enrol in the 6th grade of the Secondary School are required to take and pass an Entrance Examination. (The examination usually consists of questions in Turkish, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and English).

The Examination is administered centrally by the Ministry of Education. At the end of the 8th grade, pupils are automatically transferred to the High School (in the same building), where they study the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

Giriş sınavları, çok sayıda başvuru sahibi olması ve Bakanlığın sınırlı sayıda (genellikle 150) öğrenci kaydetme politikası nedeniyle oldukça rekabetçidir.

Facilities

We have well-equipped purpose-built laboratories for Physics, Biology and Chemistry. We also have two computer labs for ICT and Computing Science lessons. Staff meetings are held in our conference room. TMK library contains numerous collections from a variety of fields including science, literature, history, social science and story books in different languages. In addition to academic facilities, there are two football pitches as well as two basketball fields. In 2012 we are proud to have opened our newly built Cultural Centre with a capacity of 700. In 2014 we have opened our newly built Biology Laboratory and in 2017 we have opened our newly built Chemistry Laboratory. We have started to build a new Physics laboratory in September 2020.

Beyond The Classroom

In addition to fostering academic success, Türk Maarif College offers a wide range of activities to enhance the extracurricular life of its students. The school’s impressive range of extracurricular activities includes journalism, dancing, drama (both in Turkish & English), camping, football, basketball, volleyball, astronomy, photography and philosophy. All of these activities are an important part of our school's philosophy of education, and greatly enrich the life of the school.
